High School: Was a four-year member of the wrestling team at Portage High School ... served as a team captain ... helped lead the team to conference, sectional and regional championships ... also helped guide the Indians to a fourth-place finish at the Indiana State Championship ... was an individual section champion once and also was a sectional runner-up once ... also was a semi-state qualifier.
