Biography

2017-18: A three-year letterwinner and a captain this season ... will compete in the throwing events.

2016-17: Garnered his third letter ... (Indoor) Did not compete ... (Outdoor) Broke his own school record in the discus with a toss of 48.66m (159''8.00") at the Liberty Twilight (5/3) ... originally set the discus record at the Doc Jopson Invite (4/1) with a mark of 47.31m (155''2.00") ... won the javelin (53.42m) and the discus (46.13m) at the ODAC Championship (4/21-22), and took third in the shot put (13.90m) ... recorded a career-best throw in the javelin of 55.90m (183''5.00") at the W&L Carnival (3/18).

2015-16: Earned his second letter ... (Indoor) Did not compete ... (Outdoor) Earned Third Team All-ODAC accolades in the javelin (46.63m) at the ODAC Championship (4/23) ... also scored in the discus at the meet by taking fourth (41.55m) ... won the javelin at the Roanoke Invitational (4/1) with a career-best toss of 47.34m ... recorded a career-best throw in the discus (41.64m) at the same meet.

2014-15: Lettered in his first season ... (Indoor) Did not compete ... (Outdoor) Placed fourth in the javelin at the ODAC Championship (4/17-18) with a season-best mark of 44.84m ... registered a season-best throw in the discus (37.21m) at the league championship ... placed fifth in the discus (36.51m) at the W&L Carnival (3/21).

High School: Earned six letters while competing at The American School in Switzerland during his prep career ... competed on the track and field, lacrosse and cross country teams ... was the MVP of his track and field team in 2013 and 2014 ... named the MVP of his cross country team in 2014.

Personal: His cousin, Troy Patton, was a professional baseball player ... his father, Gerald Dericks, was ranked the No. 1 tennis player in the state of Hawaii in the 1980''s ... a chemistry major.
