His 2015 team went 15-9 and again advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In 2016, W&L battled through injuries to claim a 16-9 overall record and another ODAC title. The Generals then stunned N.C. Wesleyan with a thrilling 5-4 comeback victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2014 edition of the Generals produced a 16-7 overall record and once again made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

In his time as an assistant women's tennis coach with the Generals, Detwiler helped lead W&L to a pair of ODAC titles and NCAA Tournament berths.

Before arriving at W&L, Detwiler spent eight years as the Tennis Director at Shadow Oaks Racquet Club in Greenville, S.C. He is a 1988 graduate of Furman University, where he was a four-year letterwinner and team captain as a senior.
