LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team opened the 2026-27 season with a dominant showing at the ODAC Relays on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Natatorium, winning nine of 10 scored events and finishing atop the 10-team women's standings with 488 points.
The Generals accumulated nine gold finishes, one silver and seven third-place finishes. In team scoring, Lynchburg placed second with 340 points, while Randolph-Macon rounded out the top three with 297.
Washington and Lee's depth was evident throughout the exhibition-style relay meet with the Generals collecting wins across butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, individual medley and freestyle relay events.

Notable Performances
- Marcy Mortimer and Eliza Osada led the Generals with four event victories apiece, while each also contributed to a third-place finish. Mortimer was part of W&L's winning 3x50 butterfly and 3x50 breaststroke, 400 free, and crescendo relays, while Osada contributed to victories in the 200 medley, under-water fly kick, 3x50 butterfly, and 3x50 backstroke relays.
- Gabby Clemens, Grace Bentley and Amelia Maloof each contributed to three victories, one runner-up finish and one third-place performance. Clemens was part of the winning 3x100 individual medley relay, while Bentley helped W&L capture the 3x50 backstroke and Maloof anchored the Generals' winning 200 medley relay.
- Frances Fenton finished the afternoon with three victories and two third-place performances, including wins in the 3x50 breaststroke and 200 medley relays. Fenton, Celia Bredehoeft and Mortimer won the breaststroke relay in 1:33.37, edging Lynchburg by 0.66 seconds.
- Katelyn Giffen and Bredehoeft also collected three event victories apiece. Giffen joined Osada and Bentley to win the 3x50 backstroke in 1:23.26 and later helped the Generals take the 200 medley relay, while Bredehoeft contributed to wins in the 3x50 breaststroke and 3x100 individual medley relays.
- Tenra Adams and Peighton Kruzel rounded out W&L's top 10 high-point performers. Adams recorded two wins, one runner-up and one third-place finish, while Kruzel contributed to two victories and one third-place performance.
