WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf moved up two spots in the final round to finish in tenth place at the NCAA Preview in Historic Williamsburg.

The Blue and White put together the fifth-best score of the final round, shooting five-over par to finish the tournament at 14-over par (290-287-289—866). Second-ranked Huntingdon claimed the team title with a score of 18-under par.

W&L shot one-under par on the front nine with seven birdies and 23 pars, including a pair of birdies on holes one (par 4, 369 yards) and eight (par 4, 419 yards). The Generals carded a six-over-par score on the back nine with six birdies and 19 pars, including three birdies on the 13th hole (par 3, 175 yards).

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

• Senior Jonathan McEwen dropped 17 spots in the final round, leading the Blue and White with a tie for 18th place at two-under par (66-68-77—211). After shooting a 66 and 68 in the first two rounds, McEwen carded a six-over 77 in the final round with two birdies and 10 pars. He finished the tournament ranked third in par-3 scoring at one-under par while playing the par 5s at four-under par. He also ranked in the top 10 in birdies, recording 13 through 54 holes.
• First-year Thomas Sams moved up 26 spots in the final round to secure a tie for 40th place at five-over par (76-72-70—218). Sams followed up rounds of 76 and 72 with a one-under 70, carding five birdies, including three in a four-hole stretch. He played the par 5s at one-under par during his first collegiate tournament.
• First-year Hall Chapman dropped six spots in the final round to finish in a tie for 40th place alongside Sams at five-over par (71-72-75—218). Chapman shot a 71 and 72 in the first two rounds before carding a four-over 75 in the final round with a pair of birdies and 11 pars. He tied McEwen for third in par-3 scoring at one-under par while posting the 11th-most pars in the field with 37.
• Sophomore William Hull moved up 12 spots in the final round to finish in a tie for 71st place at 14-over par (80-75-72—227). He followed up rounds of 80 and 75 on Monday with a one-over 72 in the final round, carding three birdies, including two in a three-hole stretch, and 11 pars. Hull played the par 5s at one-under par.
• Junior Charlie Krasnewich also moved up 12 spots during the final 18 holes of the tournament, shooting a one-over 72. Krasnewich carded three birdies, all of which came during a three-hole stretch, while adding 11 pars.
