WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee University men's golf team sits in a tie for 12th place following the first two rounds of the NCAA Preview at the Kingsmill Resort while senior Jonathan McEwen is in a tie for first place at eight-under par.

The Blue and White is tied for 12th place with No. 11 Mary Hardin-Baylor with a score of nine-over-par score (290-287 -- 577). The Generals shot six-over par in the opening round before bouncing back with a three-over-par performance in round two.

W&L shot one-over par on the front nine across the first two rounds, recording 15 birdies and 42 pars, including four birdies each on holes three and seven. The Generals shot eight-over par on the back nine with eight birdies and 49 pars.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

• Senior Jonathan McEwen sits in a tie for first place following the first 36 holes after shooting a combined score of eight-under par (66-68 --134). McEwen posted the 10th-best single round in program history during the opening 18, shooting a bogey-free 66 (-5) with five birdies. He followed that up with a three-under 68 in round two, carding six birdies, including four on the front nine, and nine pars.
• First-year Hall Chapman sits in a tie for 33rd place in his first collegiate tournament after shooting one-over par (71-72 -- 143) through the first two rounds. Chapman carded a pair of birdies on holes eight (par 4, 419 yards) and 11 (par 4, 408 yards), along with 14 pars, to shoot even par in the opening round. In round two, he shot one-over par (72) with three birdies in a four-hole stretch and 12 pars. He ended the second round with six straight pars.
• First-year Thomas Sams finished his first day in a tie for 66th place with a score of six-over par (76-72 -- 148). He registered 13 pars in his first collegiate round to shoot five-over par (76) before bouncing back with a one-over 72 in the second round. Sams carded three birdies and 11 pars in round two, heading into the clubhouse with three consecutive pars to round out the day.
• Sophomore William Hull shot 13-over par (80-75 -- 155) through the first 36 holes to sit in a tie for 83rd place. He shot a nine-over 80 in round one with a birdie on hole seven (par 5, 525 yards) and nine pars. Hull followed that up with a four-over 75 in round two, registering a birdie on hole 10 (par 4, 413 yards) and 12 pars. He closed out the round with a birdie followed by three straight pars.
• Junior Charlie Krasnewich is tied for 83rd place following the first 36 holes after carding a score of 13-over-par  (77-78 -- 155). Krasnewich shot a six-over 77 in round one with three birdies and seven pars before shooting a seven-over 78 in round two with a birdie on hole 16 (par 4, 420 yards) and 11 pars. He finished the second round with five straight pars.
