WINCHESTER, Va. – Sophomore Audrey Robinson captured the individual title as members of the No. 16 Washington and Lee University women's cross country team placed five runners among the top eight to win the Hornet Harrier Invitational on Saturday morning at Kernstown Battlefield.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Robinson led the field from the Generals' group competing on Saturday, completing the 6-kilometer course in 24:20.9 to claim the individual title by 10.4 seconds over Shenandoah's Madison Chorney.

Sophomore Amelia Weenig gave W&L a second runner among the top five, finishing fifth overall in 24:55.5. Classmate Josie Engle followed one position later with a time of 25:08.0 to place sixth.

Sophomore Maddy Morgan crossed the line seventh overall in 25:12.3, while senior Hannah Adams completed the Generals' scoring five with an eighth-place finish in 25:23.0. The five W&L scorers were separated by just 1:02.1.

First-year Caroline Ferguson added a ninth-place performance in 25:26.0, giving Washington and Lee six of the first nine finishers. Senior Lucie Graziano rounded out the W&L contingent in 26th place with a time of 26:39.9.

The Generals finished with 23 points, placing all five scoring runners inside the top eight to earn a 28-point victory over ODAC foe and host Shenandoah. The Hornets finished second with 51 points, followed by Dickinson with 55 and Potomac State College with 120.
