SALEM, Va. — Washington and Lee University men's wrestling squared off with the nation's top-ranked program Friday night, falling 30–7 to No. 1 Roanoke College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference dual. The Generals battled throughout the lineup, including a nationally ranked showdown at 141 pounds, but the Maroons used depth and bonus-point production to pull away.

The dual opened at 149 pounds, where Roanoke picked up an early decision to set the tone. Washington and Lee answered shortly after at 157, as No. 10 Liam Flanagan delivered one of the Generals' strongest performances of the night, earning a 13–3 major decision over Bailey Wilman to put W&L on the board and briefly tighten the score.

Several tightly contested bouts followed through the middle of the lineup. W&L pushed Roanoke at 165 and 174, with both matches decided by low margins, but the Maroons maintained control by capitalizing in key positions. Roanoke then created separation in the upper weights, scoring bonus points at 184 and 197 to extend its lead.

Eighth-ranked Carter Stack gave the Generals a positive finish at heavyweight, controlling the final bout of the upper weights with an 8–1 decision over Nicholas Cook. The night concluded with the marquee matchup at 141, featuring top-ranked and reigning national champion Mark Samuel against No. 15 Skyler Hickman. In a highly anticipated showdown, Samuel used late pressure to secure a 9–3 decision, closing the dual and sealing the 30–7 final.
