MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The No. 17 Washington and Lee University women's cross country team placed ninth in a field featuring 12 Division I programs at the Richmond Invitational on Friday morning at Pole Green Park.
The Generals totaled 269 points in the 6-kilometer race and finished ahead of Division I programs Hampton, VMI and Morgan State. Elon won the 14-team meet with 42 points, while George Washington and host Richmond each finished with 77 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

- Sophomore Adelaide Ellis led the Generals across the line, placing 54th overall in 23:24.5.
- Sophomore Audrey Robinson followed one second later, recording a personal-best 23:25.5, while first-year Laura Sallade finished in 23:36.8 to give W&L three runners within 12.3 seconds.
- W&L sat 10th at the 1K and 2K checkpoints before moving into ninth at 3K and holding that position through the finish.
