W&L Sweeps Marymount and Messiah at Brent Lancaster Memorial Duals

ARLINGTON, Va. — Washington and Lee University men's wrestling turned in a dominant performance on Saturday at the Brent Lancaster Memorial Duals, earning a 36–9 win over host Marymount University before defeating Messiah University, 29–14.

The Generals recorded nine bonus-point victories across the two duals, including five falls and three tech falls, highlighted by undefeated days from Skyler Hickman, Liam Flanagan, John Santowski, and Carter Stack.

W&L 36, Marymount 9

Washington and Lee won eight of ten bouts to open the day, using three falls and three tech falls to roll past the Saints. After early wins from Calvin Wiedemer and Skyler Hickman gave W&L a 10–3 lead, Liam Flanagan's first-period pin at 157 extended the margin and shifted momentum firmly to the Generals. W&L closed the dual with three straight bonus-point victories from Jacob Wright (TF), John Santowski (Fall), and Carter Stack (Fall) to seal the 27-point win.

W&L 29, Messiah 14

The Generals carried their momentum into the second dual, winning six of the first seven bouts to build an insurmountable lead. Ben Rubin opened with a fall at 125 before regionally ranked standouts Vincent Ziccardi and Skyler Hickman extended the lead at 133 and 141. Messiah responded in the middle weights, but John Santowski and Carter Stack closed out the dual with clutch wins — Santowski with a 1–0 shutout at 197 and Stack with his second fall of the day at heavyweight.
