Generals Women Defeat Mary Washington with Strong Home Performance

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team opened the regular season with a strong start to the 2025-26 season with a 162–100 non-conference victory over the University of Mary Washington on Friday evening at the W&L Natatorium.

The Generals claimed eight event wins and claimed at least one of the top-three spots in every event in the home-opening dual. Celia Bredehoeft, Maria Jellig and Peighton Kruzel each recorded multiple individual wins to pace the Generals and the evening was capped off with the 400-yard freestyle relay's win in a time of 3:41.20. 

Up Next: Washington and Lee returns to the pool on Saturday, October 18, hosting Carnegie Mellon University at the W&L Natatorium. Competition begins at 11 a.m.
