W&L Posts Nine Extra-Point Wins at SVU Dual

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Washington and Lee University wrestling team delivered a dominant performance on Thursday night, blanking Southern Virginia University, 50-0, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) dual held at SVU. 

The victory improves W&L's record to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in conference duals, while SVU falls to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in ODAC action. The Generals not only claimed all 10 bouts but recorded a mix of falls, technical falls, major decisions, and one decision victory to complete the shutout.

Leading the charge for W&L were Vincent Ziccardi at 133 pounds, who secured a pin in just 1:46, Jack McCusker at 184 pounds with a fall at 4:40, and Tade Omisore at 285 pounds, earning a fall at 2:34. The Generals also registered a pair of technical falls from Tony Urso (125) and Liam Flanagan (157) who held their opponents scoreless in their respective matchups. 

Offensively, the squad combined for 29 total takedowns and 49 nearfall points en route to posting the clean sheet.  

The Generals will return to action on Saturday, January 25 when they travel at Averett University in their next ODAC dual slated for 7 p.m.
