Women’s Swimming Soars Past Centre, 168-94

LEXINGTON, Va.The Washington and Lee University women's swimming team picked up their first win of the season, knocking off Centre College 168-94 on Sunday afternoon inside the W&L Natatorium.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Generals won ten of the 14 events this afternoon on their way to their first dual meet win of the season and the ninth-straight win over the Colonels. 
  • Bella Tarbet notched four total wins for the Blue and White on Sunday, being a member of both winning relay teams and securing first place finishes in the 100 and 200 butterfly. Tarbet teamed up with Vivian Pickeral, Clara Attar and Myla Rice in the 200 medley relay, clocking in a time of 1:50.72 to finish in first place. Tarbet, Rice, Amelia Maloof and Tenra Adams teamed up later in the meet in the 200 freestyle relay where they posted a winning time of 1:39.59. She clocked in a time of 59.06 in the 100 butterfly to secure her first solo win of the afternoon before posting a time of 2:11.26 in the 200 butterfly to pick up her second win of the meet.
  • First-year Vivian Pickeral had a hand in three wins this afternoon, picking up solo wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke. She clocked in a time of 1:00.98 in the 100 backstroke before finishing in 2:12.59 in the 200 backstroke to secure two individual wins. Pickeral was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that clocked in a time of 1:39.59.
  • Morgan Smith also posted two wins in the meet, clocking in a time of 1:08.26 to finish first in the 100 breaststroke before posting a winning time of 2:29.75 in the 200 breaststroke.
  • Celia Bredehoeft and Attar wrapped up the individual wins for the Generals this afternoon as Bredehoeft clocked in a winning time of 5:25.26. Attar finished in first place in the 200 individual medley, posting a winning time of 2:17.81 while also being a member of the 200 medley relay team.

  • The Generals will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 19 as they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. for a dual against Carnegie Mellon University at 11 a.m.
