LEXINGTON, Va - The Washington and Lee University wrestling team defeated Greensboro College 41-6 on Friday night in an ODAC dual. 

The Generals (4-2, 2-0 ODAC) opened up 2024 with a dominant win over the Pride (0-5, 0-1) before hosting the Jim Crytzer Invitational tomorrow. 

IN BRIEF 

  • Sophomore Mark Troni posted a 1:09 fall at the 165 position to highlight the evening's individual results.
  • Brad Singer opened up the evening with a 15-4 major decision over Christopher Watson by scoring a Nearfall 4 as time expired in the third period. 
  • Nic Zamaloff and Harrison Kelly split 10 team points with technical falls at the 157 and 174 weight classes, respectively. 
  • In the 197 bout, sophomore John Santowski fought off Khalil Belk in a 2-1 decision to cap the night off for W&L.
  • The Pride forfeited at the 133, 149 and heavy weight bouts.
  • First-year Generals Skyler Hickman and Jacob Wright saw their first ODAC action on Friday night. Hickman fell to No. 2 nationally-ranked and two-time All-American, Josh Wilson, 11-5 at the 141 weight class. Jacob Wright fell 7-5 at 184. 

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Generals recorded 11 takedowns and managed 10 escapes which included selecting bottom on six occasions between rounds.
  • W&L tallied six total nearfalls and four of those were Nearfall 4.
