2024 Swimming Senior Day

Men’s Swimming Overwhelms Yellow Jackets on Senior Day, 194-66

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's swimming team honored their four senior members before dismantling Randolph-Macon College 194-66 on Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Malachi Eberly, Bennett Ehret, Will Hughes and Stephen Savage were celebrated prior to the dual. As a unit they have posted a 16-3 record over their four years while claiming back-to-back Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships. 

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Generals won 13 of the 14 events while claiming gold in both relays. The success was spread out as 11 swimmers finished first in the 11 individual wins this afternoon. 
  • Matt Fritz led the Blue and White three total wins on the day, the Junior had a hand in both relay wins as the 200 medley relay team finished in first with a time of 1:32.47 and the 200 freestyle team posted a 1:27.82 to claim gold. Individually, Fritz finished in first in the 100 backstroke, posting a time of 52.06. 
  • Harrison Cerone had a hand in two wins for W&L today as he was a member of the 200 medley relay team while claiming gold in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.73. His breaststroke time ranks second in the ODAC this season. 
  • Dalton Jobe posted one win for the Blue and White this afternoon, putting on a clinic in the 400m individual medley. Jobe recorded a new pool record with a time of 4:04.64, finishing 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

  • The Generals travel to neighboring Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, Jan. 27 for a dual meet with the Keydets at 12 p.m.
