WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - For the second time in three years, the Washington and Lee University wrestling team posted a 3-0 record on the first day of the Budd Whitehill Duals to advance to the championship bracket tomorrow.
The Generals started the day off with a pair of wins over ranked opponents. In the opening match of Group D, W&L defeated No. 21 Ohio Northern 23-16. In the afternoon session, W&L then posted a dominant win over No. 20 Lycoming College, the hosts and top-seeded team in the group, 34-10. The nightcap event featured a 31-12 decision over York (Pa.) to secure a 3-0 record out of the group.
The Blue and White advance to the championship group and will kick off tomorrow's matches with a 10:30 a.m. contest against No. 7 Stevens on Mat 1. Depending on the result of the morning's match, W&L will wrestle in either the Championship Final on Mat 1 or the 3rd Place Match on Mat 2 at 1:30 p.m. No. 18 Roanoke College and No. 8 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire round out the other side of the championship brack and will match up in the second semifinals round.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Lindner scored the most team points (15) for the Generals, tied for the second-most in the tournament. Santowski followed with 14 points.
- Lindner also score the most single match points (20) and most total match points (60) which was the second-most in the tournament behind Cortland's Angelo Centrone (65 points).
- The Generals posted four individual victories over regionally-ranked opponents.
