No. 23 Women’s Swimming Dismantles Hornets, 175-85

LEXINGTON, Va. - The 23rd-ranked Women's Swimming team got back into the win column Saturday afternoon as they defeated the University of Lynchburg 175-85 inside the W&L Natatorium.  

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Generals won 11 of the 14 events to defeat the Hornets. Eight different swimmers combined to win nine individual events while two relay teams claimed gold in their respective events. 
  • Senior Brynn Martinson contributed to four wins for the Generals as she claimed gold in the 50 Freestyle (24.35) and 100 Freestyle (54.09) while being a part of both winning relay teams. Martinson was the anchor in the 200 medley relay team who finished first with a time of 1:50.26. Martinson teamed up with Myla Rice, Bella Tarbet and Sophia Rollo to post an ODAC-best 1:38.37 in the 200 free relay. 
  • Junior Myla Rice claimed the top spot in the 100 butterfly as she topped the competition with a time of 1:00.35. Rice posted a time of 24.85 in the second leg of the 200 free relay. Senior Sophia Rollo played a role in two wins for the Blue and White as she was the anchor in the 200 free relay while claiming gold in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.43.
  • Lauren Helminiak kicked off the 200 medley relay with 28.22, helping the team to a first place finish before posting an ODAC-best 1:00.56 in the 100 backstroke.

  • The 23rd-ranked Generals are back in action on Friday, Nov. 10 as they host Southern Virginia University at 6 p.m. inside the W&L Natatorium.
