ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team notched its largest margin of victory of the season in a 197-64 victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday.
Highlights from the meet:
-W&L was victorious in 11 of the 14 races on the day and saw eight different swimmers combine for nine solo wins.
-Sophomore
Matt Fritz (Reston, Va. / South Lakes) led the way with two individual wins, which came in the 100 breast (1:00.41) and 100 fly (51.94). Fritz also swam third on the winning 200 medley relay (1:35.17).
-Sophomore
Baxter Smelzer (Greensboro, N.C. / Page) also had a hand in three wins, coming in the form of an individual and both relays. His solo win came in the 100 free (48.38), he joined Fritz on the 200 medley relay and swam second in the 200 free relay's (1:28.34) victory.
-Senior
Todd Echols (Winston Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds) capped off the list of Generals to tally multiple wins on the day. He was first in the 200 IM (1:58.74) and swam the second leg on the 200 medley relay (1:35.17).
