WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Washington and Lee University wrestling team posted 2-1 a team record in Group D on the first day of the Budd White National Duals on Friday. The Generals collected an individual record of 18-12 and earned a place in the 5-8 place bracket tomorrow.
The Blue and White (6-2) downed Messiah College (7-9) and SUNY Oswego State (3-6) in the first two matchups 23-19 and 35-7 before falling to No. 8 Wisconsin-Eau Claire (14-5) 26-13.
UW-EC advanced to the Championship draw after sweeping the group, 3-0.
Seniors No. 9
Riley Parker (Virginia Beach, Va. / First Colonial),
Ryan Luth (Milford, Conn. / Jospeh A. Foran) and
Matt Majoy (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset) all went 3-0 today. Majoy tallied a team-high two pins and owned the third-quickest pin in the tournament on Friday. Parker, along with First-Year Evan Linder (New Milford, Conn. / New Milford), each recorded falls of their own, Linder went 2-0 in the 141 weight class.
Harrison Kelly (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) recorded a fall (3:55) against Oswego in the 165 bout.
Majoy led W&L in scoring and recorded a fourth-best 15 points toward the team results.
The Generals finished second in Group D scoring and will take on Springfield at 10:30 a.m. to start the 5-8th place bracket on mat 4.
