LEXINGTON, Va. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association released the brackets for the 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Monday evening.
 
Washington and Lee juniors Riley Parker (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and Ryan Luth (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran) are among the 180 competitors who will vie for a national championship among the 10 separate weight classes.
 
Parker will compete in the 125-pound bracket and will contest an opening round match against eighth-seeded Derek Steele of fifth-ranked Augsburg.  A first-year, Steele carries a 23-6 record into the championship after winning the Upper Midwest Regional title.
 
Parker earned his first ticket to nationals after placing third overall in the Southeast Region.  He claims a 31-7 overall record this season and a 57-20 career mark.
 
Luth qualified for the NCAA Championship for the second time, but will competing for the first occasion after the 2020 championship was canceled due to Covid-19.  He will compete at 157 pounds and is seeded fourth overall in the bracket.  He will open against Matthew Sacco of the College of New Jersey, who earned his bid by finishing as the runner-up in the Mideast Regional.  A junior, Sacco has a 13-2 record this season and he is 31-15 for his career.
 
Luth won the Southeast Region 157-pound title for the second straight season to punch his ticket to nationals.  He is currently ranked fourth nationally and he boasts a 29-1 overall record this season.  For his career, Luth carries a 75-6 overall record.
 
The 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Wrestling begins at 11:00 am.
