12/7/2022 8:48:00 PM

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University wrestling team defeated the Ferrum College Panthers 27-7 in an ODAC match on Wednesday night.

The Generals (4-1, 2-1 ODAC) won eight of the 10 matches, including three by decision and John Ryan Sedovy's (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge) second sudden victory dual match of the year, to earn the league victory.

Riley Parker (Virginia Beach, Va./ First Colonial) opened up the night with an 11-2 major decision over Trent Proctor in the 125 weight class. Rookie Evan Lindner (New Milford, Conn. / New Milford) followed Parker's performance and picked up his first collegiate ODAC dual victory, a 13-4 MD over Rubyn Semedo in the 133 match.

Vincent Ziccardi (Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park) and Colin Bridges (Virginia Beach, Va. / Frank W. Cox) followed with 4-3 and 6-3 decision victories in the 141 and 149 matches, respectively.

Harrison Kelly (Berkley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) won the 165 bout over Joseph Olade, 7-4 before Jak Krouse (Valparaiso, Indiana / Valparaiso) took Perry Roller to a 10-1 major decision with a strong offensive night. He recorded four takedowns and a riding time point to end the match.

At the 184 weight, Cameron Blizard's (Greensboro, N.C. / Ragsdale) 13-6 decision over Michael Oliver was the highest-scoring match of the night. Blizard posted three takedowns from the third period neutral choice and picked up a riding time point. Oliver was on the defensive all over the mat, his six points all came from escapes.

The second to last match of the night was Sedovy's second nail-biter in as many home duals this year. The Lexington native posted a takedown in the first overtime period for a 6-4 sudden victory of FC's Braden Homesy in the 197 class. The pair was in a 3-3 stalemate following the opening period and the two traded a pair of escapes in the final two rounds to force the extra time.

The squad will enter into winter break and return to the mat on January 7 at home in the Jim Crystzer Invitational.
