LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University wrestling team fell to Roanoke 18-15 in the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference dual meet since the resumption of the league's men's wrestling sponsorship.

The Generals (0-1, 0-1 ODAC) won the 125, 157, 165, and 285 weight class matches by decision and John Ryan Sedovy (Laxington, Va. / Rockbridge) won the 197 match in sudden victory 3-1 thanks to a takedown.

An injury default at the 5:34 mark of the 174 matchup made the difference for the Maroons (1-0, 1-0 ODAC) for the two teams inaugural ODAC matchup.

Riley Parker (Virginia Beach, Va. / First Colonial) opened up the dual with a 5-2 decision in the 125 match. Parker posted a pair of takedowns and an escape to pick up three points for W&L.

Roanoke took the next three weight classes with an 11-2 major decision and a pair of decisions in the 141 and 149 classes.

Nic Zamaloff (Wall Township, N.J. / Academy of Allied Health and Science) broke the scoreless streak for W&L with a 4-1 decision over Andrew McDougal. Zamaloff entered into the second period with a 2-0 lead and responded to an RC escape with a takedown in the final stanza.

Mark Troni (Denver, Colo. / Mullen) recorded a team-high 7 points over David Reid in the 165 class. Troni escaped a Reid takedown and answered with his own in the first period for a 3-2 advantage and repeated his scoreline in the second to go up 6-2. In the final period Reid posted an escape but was given a pair of stall warnings that resulted in a Troni penalty point.

Following the 165 match, the team score was tied at 9-9 because of an RC misconduct penalty.

Kyle Lee then took the 174 match for the visitors with an injury default  to give the Maroons a 15-9 advantage with three weight classes remaining.

Sedovy's OT thriller brought W&L within five points in team scoring, 18-12. However, Roanoke's Joshua Mancia didn't give up a fall in the 285 bracket to Matt Majoy (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset) and the 3-1 decision fell three points short on the scoreboard.

The Generals will take to the mats again on November 20 at the Star City Classic and Star City Duals presented by the USMC in Salem, Virginia.
