PITTSBURGH – The No. 22 Washington and Lee women's swimming team suffered its first dual-meet loss of the season with a 199-63 setback at No. 12 Carnegie Mellon on Saturday.
Highlights from the meet:
-The Generals claimed one event win on the day and added an additional seven top-three efforts. Four different Generals combined for six individual top-three finishes, with the 200 free relay (1:40.19) placing third to close the meet.
-Junior
Brynn Martinson (Charlotte, N.C. / South Mecklenburg) secured the lone win for the Blue and White, as she touched first in the 50 free (24.11). Martinson also had a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 free (53.12) and 200 free (1:57.63), and she swam on the 200 free relay.
-Junior
Sophia Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) tallied a pair of top-three races, coming in second in the 100 back (59.67) and third in the 200 IM (2:13.36).
-First-years
Maria Jellig (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) and
Paige McBoyle (Short Hills, N.J. / Millburn) rounded out the Generals to finish inside the Top 3 in individual races, with Jellig third in the 1000 free (11:09.51) and McBoyle third in the 200 breast (2:28.80).
