LYNCHBURG, Va. – The 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee women's swimming team improved to 3-0 in dual meets and scored a season high in points in a 198-64 win over Lynchburg on Saturday.
Highlights from the meet:
-The Generals won 13 of the 14 events on the day, including both relays, and they had seven different swimmers combine for 11 individual wins. In total 10 Generals had a hand in at least one win.
-The Blue and White's efforts were led by junior
Brynn Martinson (Charlotte, N.C. / South Mecklenburg), who won three individual races and helped the 200 free relay (1:40.31) to a win as well. Her solo wins came in the 50 free (24.03), 100 free (52.67) and 200 free (1:57.09).
-Next up with two individual wins each was junior
Sophia Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) and first-year
Meagan Baxley (Roanoke, Va. / Hidden Valley). Rollo won the 100 back (59.88) and 200 IM (2:14.41), while Baxley topped the field in the 200 fly (2:12.33) and 500 free (5:25.48). Rollo also swam anchor for the winning 200 medley relay (1:50.24).
-Sophomore
Bella Tarbet (East Hampton, N.Y. / East Hampton) joined Rollo on the 200 medley relay and Martinson on the 200 free relay, and she also won the 100 fly (1:00.73). Senior
Sara Gaston (Mechanicsville, Va. / Mechanicsville) was victorious in the 200 back (2:12.12) and was also part of the 200 medley relay.
