FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team improved to 2-0 this season with a 179-82 win at Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon.
Highlights from the meet:
-W&L won 10 of the 14 events on the day, with eight of the victories coming in individual races. Five different swimmers combined for the eight individual wins, with a trio of swimmers winning multiple races.
-Juniors
Sophia Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) and
Brynn Martinson (Charlotte, N.C. / South Mecklenburg), along with first-year
Paige McBoyle (Short Hills, N.J. / Millburn) each won two individual races. Rollo's wins came in the 100 back (1:00.75) and 200 back (2:10.47), with Martinson winning the 50 free (24.85) and 100 free (54.29).
-McBoyle was victorious in the 100 breast (1:09.56) and 200 breast (2:28.93), and she also added a runner-up finish in the 200 IM (2:17.78).
-Martinson was also part of both relay wins, swimming anchor for the 200 medley relay (1:50.95) and the opening leg on the 200 free relay (1:41.06). Rollo joined Martinson, sophomore
Myla Rice (Alexandria, Va. / T.C. Williams) and first-year
Schuyler Ross (Glen Ridge, N.J. / Glen Ridge) on the 200 free relay.
