WINCHESTER, Va. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team improved to 8-5 overall with a 45-0 victory over Shenandoah in Winchester on Saturday evening.
 
The Generals received a pair of forfeit wins at 125 and 133 pounds, adding pins by senior 165-pounder Joe Salerno (Princeton Junction, N.J. / West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and senior 285-pounder Clay Chadwick (Arlington, Va. / Yorktown).  Salerno pinned George Vrachnos in just 31 seconds, while Chadwick felled Daniel Metz in 1:50.
 
Senior 141-pounder Charlie Cunningham (Pequannock, N.J. / Seton Hall Prep) earned a 16-1 technical fall win over Cameron Hatchett and senior 149-pounder Joseph Tarquine (Gallatin, Tenn. / Montgomery Bell Academy) posted a 15-5 major decision over Patrick Coffron.
 
Other winners by decision for W&L included first-year 157-pounder Nick Alejandro (Cresco, Pa. / East Stroudsburg South), junior 174-pounder Cameron Blizard (Greensboro, N.C. / Ragsdale), senior 184-pounder Brad Basham (Burlington, Mass. / Buckingham Browne & Nichols) and sophomore 197-pounder John Ryan Sedovy (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge County).
 
Washington and Lee will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Johns Hopkins for a 7:00 pm contest.
