LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team tied the program record for wins in a season by winning nine of 10 individual matches in posting a 48-2 victory over Southern Virginia on Saturday evening at the Student Activities Pavilion.
 
The program record for wins has stood for 46 years, with the 1972-73 team registering a 13-5 mark.  W&L claims the exact same mark this season (13-5) with three more dual matches remaining on the schedule.
 
Additionally, the W&L senior class of Colby Boudreau (Epsom, N.H. / Northfield Mount Hermon), Shane Conners (Mount Airy, Md. / South Carroll), Rexx Hallyburton (Bishop, Ga. / Oconee County), Alec Horne (Chester Springs, Pa. / Downingtown East) and Andrew Taylor (Atlanta, Ga. / Westminster), which celebrated their senior day activities prior to the match, tied the program-record for wins by a senior class.  The group is now 42-22 over their four seasons, tying them with the 1986 and 1987 classes.
 
All five recorded victories in their individual matches led by Horne, who notched a win by fall (2:01) over SVU's Gavin Blair.  The Generals won each of the first nine matches, before falling in a tightly-contested match at 285 pounds.
 
Washington and Lee will return to action next Saturday when it travels to Westminster, Md., to take on Johns Hopkins, the Merchant Marine Academy and Ursinus in a conference quad.  Action begins at 12:00 noon.
