LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team defeated both VMI (156-106) and Randolph (216-33) in a home tri-meet on Saturday afternoon.
Highlights from the meet:
-The Generals took first place in 10 of the 14 events on the afternoon, including both relays, with five different swimmers combining for the eight individual wins.
-W&L was led by sophomores Danny Lynch (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) and Patrick Sullivan (Pawleys Island, S.C./Waccamaw) and junior Jared Nickodem (Jackson, Wis./Cedarburg Senior), who all won twice individually and swam on a winning relay.
-Lynch and Nickodem were both on the winning 200 medley relay (1:36.07) to open in the meet, as Lynch went on to place first in the 100 backstroke (52.25) and 200 individual medley (1:59.24), while Nickodem won the 100 (53.03) and 200 butterfly (1:55.81) races.
-Sullivan claimed victory in the 200 (1:42.48) and 500 freestyle (4:56.67) events and closed the meet by swimming on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:25.97).

-Jared Nickodem – 200 butterfly (1:55.81); 100 butterfly (53.03)
-Jonathan Tucker – 200 breaststroke (2:10.71)

The Generals will get back in the pool on Saturday, February 2, when they travel to St. Mary's (Md.) for a 1:00 pm dual meet.
