DANVILLE, Ky. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team opened the 2018-19 season with a 159-98 win over Centre in a dual meet.
Highlights from the meet:
-The Generals claimed the top spot in nine out of 15 events.
-Junior Emily Hageboeck (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) was part of three wins, including individual victories in the 100 (1:08.81) and 200 breaststroke (2:30.69) events. She was also part of the winning 200 medley relay, swimming the second leg of the event as the team finished in a pool-record time of 1:50.97.
-First-years Anna Jamieson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and Claudia Barnett (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg) also won a pair of individual events. Jamieson touched the wall first in the 100 (1:00.10) and 200 backstroke (2:12.05) events and Barnett was victorious in the 50 (25.51) and 100 freestyles (55.12).
First-place finishes:
-Ashley Johnston, Hageboeck, MacQueen, Elle Chancey – 200 medley relay (1:50.97)
-Emily Hageboeck – 100 breaststroke (1:08.81), 200 breaststroke (2:30.69)
-Anna Jamieson – 100 backstroke (1:00.10), 200 backstroke (2:12.05)
-Claudia Barnett – 50 freestyle (25.51), 100 freestyle (55.12)
-Turner Bobbitt – 200 freestyle (2:00.86)
-Ali MacQueen – 100 butterfly (59.17)

The Generals will get back in the pool on Friday when they host Mary Washington at 6:00 pm in the first home meet of the season.
