LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team defeated VMI, 172.5-89.5, on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Natatorium.

Highlights From the Meet:

• The Generals claimed first-place in 12 out of the 14 events, while also placing second in five of the events.
• W&L claimed the top spot in both of the relays. First-year Patrick Sullivan (Pawleys Island, S.C. / Waccamaw), sophomore Ethan Fischer (Columbus, Ohio / Upper Arlington), and seniors Noah Schammel (Greenville, S.C. / St. Joseph's) and Tommy Thetford (Birmingham, Ala. / The Altamont) placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.96. Senior Corey Connelly (Belleair, Fla. / Palm Harbor University) and sophomore Sammy Logue (Fallston, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) joined Sullivan and Thetford on the 200-yard free relay that took first with a time of 1:25.50.
• Thetford, sophomore Ben Brown (Baldwin, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) and first-year Danny Lynch (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) led the Generals with two first-place finishes each. Thetford took the top spot in the 50-yard free (21.04) and 100-yard free (2:14.57). Brown placed first in the 1000-yard free (10:05.92) and the 500-yard free (4:52.34), while Lynch claimed first in the 200-yard fly (1:57.68) and 200-yard IM (2:01.06).
