BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team posted three wins on Saturday at the Southern Virginia Duels.  The Generals knocked off Huntingdon (22-21), Greensboro (31-15) and Hampden-Sydney (50-0).

Washington and Lee has now won five straight matches and stands at 5-3 for the season.

In the win over Huntingdon, the Generals raced out to a 15-6 lead on the strength of pins by first-year 133-pounder Zach Bylykbashi (Southington, Conn. / Southington) and first-year 141-pounder Michael Dik (Boxford, Mass. / St. John's Prep).  Sophomore Brandon Lefore (Morgan Hill, Calif. / Ann Sobrato) posted a win by decision at 174 pounds and senior 184-pounder Ron Tassoni (Media, Pa. / Haverford School) notched a major decision for a 22-12 lead that the Hawks simply could not overcome.

Against Greensboro, sophomore Alex Pollera (Warren, N.J. / Watchung Hills Regional) posted a win by fall at 149 pounds and sophomore Zachary Papin (Carrollton, Texas / St. Mark's) also won by fall at 157-pounds to stake W&L to a 19-3 lead through the middle weight classes en route to the win.

Hampden-Sydney forfeited eight of the 10 weight classes, while Lefore won by technical fall at 174 pounds and sophomore Matt Kaminer (Hewlett, N.Y. / George W. Hewlett) won 3-2 at 285 pounds for the 50-0 win.

Washington and Lee returns to action on December 5 when it competes at the Ohio Northern Invitational.  Action begins at 9:00 am.
