LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team logged an 0-4 record in the Desert Duals hosted by Wartburg College in Las Vegas on Sunday.  The Generals dropped matches to Alma (37-11), Olivet (34-10), Simpson (38-12) and Concordia of Minnesota (30-16).

W&L (1-10) was led by a trio of wrestlers that finished the day with 3-1 records at their respective weights.  Seniors Sam Campbell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) and David Dennis (Sherman, W.Va./Ravenswood), and first-year Conor Duffey (Boxford, Mass./Brooks School) all completed the day with three wins, while first-year Zan Reed (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) finished with a 2-2 overall mark. 

Campbell opened his day at 133 pounds with an 11-3 win over Zack Case of Alma, then knocked off Olivet's Michael Gancer with a 14-3 major decision.  He was then pinned by Spencer Courier of Simpson (1:35), before recovering to defeat Will McCarthy of Concordia, 5-2.

Dennis dropped his opening match to Alma's Matt Tuttle by fall (6:05), before winning his final three matches of the day at 165 pounds.  He downed Olivet's Rocky Cantu, 3-0, then posted an 8-1 win over Simpson's Cory Stratton.  He completed his day with a 7-3 victory over Concordia's Jake Krogstad.

At 141 pounds, Duffey opened with a 12-2 major decision over Alma's Joe White, before falling to Olivet's Kenny Richmond, 9-3.  He then logged a 6-1 win over Simpson's Jeff Sand, before completing his day with a 9-1 major decision over Concordia's John Krzyska. 

Reed began his day at 157 pounds, recording a 6-4 win over Alma's Brandon McLaughlin.  He then moved to 149 pounds, falling to Paul Sawaya of Olivet (16-5) and Stephen Blayer of Simpson (21-5).  Reed then finished with a win over Chad Mack of Concordia by injury default.

Washington and Lee returns to action on January 7 when it travels to Gettysburg, Pa., for dual matches against the host Bullets, Hunter and Washington & Jefferson.  Action begins at 1:00 pm.
