ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swim
team was paced by six event victories as they defeated
Randolph-Macon, 150-112, on Saturday.
The Generals (2-2) were led by senior Lynn Bazzel (Atlanta,
Ga./Lovett), who touched in first in the 100 breast (1:08.76) and
200 breast with a time of 2:33.36.
Other individual event winners included sophomores Jocelyn Cassada
(Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) in the 100 back (1:03.80),
Katie Salvati (Roselle Park, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) in the
200 back (2:15.57), Dana Fredericks (Yorktown, Va./York) touching
in first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.88 and Lauren Starnes
(Harrison, Tenn./Girls Prep) taking the 500 free in 5:22.97.
The Generals were also able to claim the top three spots in three
separate events. In the 100 back, Cassada touched in first and was
followed by sophomore Brielle Weinstein (Summerville, S.C./Pinewood
Prep) in second with a time of 1:04.63 and Salvati in third at
1:05.03. While Salvati claimed the 200 back, teammates Cassada and
sophomore Joanie Hudak (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet) finished with
times of 2:19.43 and 1:21.66 to finish second and third,
respectively. W&L also claimed the top three spots in the 200
IM, with Fredericks joined by Salvati (2:20.19) and first-year
Megan Bock (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) touching in 2:20.78.
The Generals will return to action Nov. 13 for a meet against Sweet
Briar at Cy Twombly pool. The start time is slated for 7:00 pm.
