BUENA VISTA, Va. -- The Washington and Lee wrestling team improved to 3-4 on the season with a 51-6 victory over Southern Virginia on Wednesday evening.
The Generals picked up forfeit wins in four weight classes and won three other classes by pins. First-year
Sam Campbell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) pinned Brandon Flood at 133 pounds in 4:43, while first-year
David Dennis (Sherman, W.Va./Ravenswood) pinned his 149-pound opponent, Ahmed Dorghoud, in 6:59. Senior
John Christopher (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) recorded a fall at 285 pounds, downing Pete Hansen in 4:37.
Other winners for the Generals included junior 141-pounder
Sammy Brusca (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) and senior 165-pounder
Rob Terrin (Baltimore, Md./Friends). Brusca notched a 17-0 win over Kevin Valverde, while Terrin posted a 10-1 win over Jon Eldredge.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Johns Hopkins for a dual match beginning at 2:00 pm.
