W&L Women's Swimming Defeats Randolph-Macon, 161-100

ASHLAND, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming team tied the school record with its 10th win of the season in a 161-100 win at ODAC-foe Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Lindsey Strachan (Midlothian, Va./Maggie Walker Governor's) led the way by finishing first in the 200 free (2:04.59) and 500 free (5:33.29) events.

Freshman Susan Mahoney (Richmond, Va./St. Catherines) finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.47 and swam a leg on both winning relay teams. She teamed with sophomores Jess Cobb (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches), and senior Kristine Holda (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) to capture the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.72, then teamed with freshmen Julianne Miata (Valhalla, N.Y./Westlake) and Melissa Ginder (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal), and Holda to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:47.80.

Additionally, Cobb placed first in the 200 back (1:03.33), sophomore Colette Moryan (Westfield, N.J./Mount Saint Mary Academy) took first in the 200 fly (2:24.55), and freshman Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) placed first in the 200 back (2:24.49).

The Generals (10-2, 6-0 ODAC) will look to break the season wins record as they host 23rd-ranked SUNY-Geneseo on Monday evening at 6:00 pm.
