LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming team opened up its ODAC schedule with a 132-130 victory over Randolph-Macon College on Friday evening at Twombley Pool.
The Generals (2-2, 1-0) trailed 124-121 heading into the 200-yard freestyle relay but the quartet of freshmen Allison Rogers (San Antonio, Texas/Northside Health Careers) and Jess Cobb (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), sophomore Abbie Sauter (Darien, Conn./Darien) and freshman Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches) won the event in a time of 1:43.18 to help W&L win the meet.
Cobb, Sauter, Roberson, and junior Kristine Holda (Strongville, Ohio/Strongsville) began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay in a pool and school-record time of 1:53.53. Holda also won two individual events for the Generals. She captured the 50-yard freestyle in 25.98 and the 100-yard freestyle in 57.30 while freshman Emma Axt (Edina, Minn./Edina) placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:24.48.
Randolph-Macon (3-1, 2-1) was led by junior Erin Ewalt (Reisterstown, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) who won the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.54), 200-yard backstroke (2:12.74), and the 200-yard IM (2:15.62).
The W&L women's team returns to the pool on Thurs., Nov. 11 at Randolph-Macon Woman's College. The meet begins at 6:00 pm.
