BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- The Washington and Lee men's and women's swimming teams were in action on Saturday afternoon against Bryn Mawr and Dickinson in Bryn Mawr, Pa. The men remained perfect at 4-0 with a 133-63 win over Dickinson while the women defeated Bryn Mawr, 157-47, but fell to Dickinson, 92-111, and are now 7-3 on the season.
In the men's meet, the quartet of freshmen Will Hartmann (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) and Stuart Frankfort (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass), senior Chris Colby (Ossining, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac), and junior Reed Evans (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day) won the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:46.39.
Colby and freshman Tim McGlaston (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) won two individual events. Colby won both the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.41) and 200-yard butterfly (2:02.09) while McGlaston claimed the 50-yard (22.38) and 100-yard (50.38) freestyle events.
In the women's meet, freshman Jessica Cobb (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) won two individual events and a relay event. Cobb touched the wall first in the 200-yard IM (2:18.05) and 200-yard backstroke (2:16.02). She also teamed up with sophomore Abbie Sauter (Darien, Conn./Darien), freshman Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches), and junior Kristine Holda (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) to win the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:13.95. Holda was also victorious in the 100-yard freestyle (55.74).
The W&L men's swimming team returns to the pool when it participates at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational beginning on Fri., Dec. 3 at 6:00 pm.. The women's team is back in action at the Randolph-Macon Invitational starting on Fri., Dec. 3 at 5:00 pm.
