W&L Men’s Swimming Takes Meet, 110-91, Versus VMI

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's swimming team evened its record at 3-3 overall with a 110-91 win over VMI on Wednesday evening at the Cy Twombly Pool.

The Generals were paced by seniors Zach Fake (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) and Patrick Frankfort (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass), along with junior Eric Ritter (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) and sophomore Chris Colby (Ossining, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac), who each won two events. Fake won the 50 Free (22.65) and 100 Free (50.59), while Frankfort placed first in the 200 Free (1:52.77) and 500 Free (5:13.22). Ritter and Colby tied for first in the 200 IM, both finishing in 2:08.95. Ritter also won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:16.08, while Colby touched first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.57).

Junior Ryan Beatley (Grafton, Va./Grafton) led the Keydets with a first place effort in the 200 Breast (2:28.49). Senior Chris Lambert (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg) and freshmen Chris Eaton (River Forest, Ill./River Forest) and Bart Payne (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) each turned in second place performances in the 200 Back (2:17.49), 50 Free (23.87) and 1000 Free (11:10.69), respectively.

W&L now breaks for the remainder of December for exams and the holiday season. The Generals will be back in the pool on Sat., Jan. 11 when they host Catholic for a 2:00 pm meet.
