W&L Women’s Swimming Defeats Randolph-Macon, 170-74

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming team improved to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the ODAC, with a 170-74 victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday morning in Ashland, Va.

The Generals were led by junior Kelli Austin (Niles, Mich./Niles), who won two individual events and was part of two winning relay teams. Austin took first place honors in the 50- (27.07) and 100-freestyle events (57.84) and teamed with junior Michelle Moore (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes), senior Katie Kennedy (Delran, N.J./Delran) and freshman Eleanor Williams (Metairie, La./Newman) to win the medley relay (2:02.97). She also teamed with Moore, Williams and freshman Laura Westerman (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) to win the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.80.

Kennedy won two individual events as well, taking first place in the 100-breaststroke (1:13.32) and 200-IM (2:23.01).

The Generals will be in action again on Tuesday as they travel to Hollins for an 6:30 pm meet.
