W&L Women's Swimming Defeats Randolph-Macon, 114-87

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming team improved to 4-6 overall, 3-0 in the ODAC, with a 114-87 victory over Randolph-Macon.

Sophomore Blair Huffman (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) led the way with wins in the 200-yard IM (2:20.36), 100-yard butterfly (1:02.63) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.20). Fellow classmate Kelli Austin (Niles, Mich./Niles) took first place in two events, the 100- (57.27) and 200-yard freestyle (2:03.87).

Randolph-Macon (5-2, 3-1), in just its second year as a varsity program, was led by sophomore Christine Hodge (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill). Hodge took home first place in the 500- (5:46.95) and 1000-yard freestyle events (11:48.19).

W&L sophomore Michelle Moore (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes) and R-MC freshman Elizabeth Belch (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) won the other two individual events. Moore took the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.69) and Belch won the 50-yard freestyle (25.57).

The Generals' men's and women's squads will be in action again on Saturday as they travel to Marymount and Mary Washington. W&L will swim Marymount at 12:00 noon and Mary Washington at 5:00 pm.
