LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee swim teams hosted Randolph-Macon College on Saturday afternoon. The Generals claimed a 95-44 victory in the men's competition, while the W&L women's squad improved to 3-0 on the season with a 124-72 win.
For the women's squad, sophomore Katie Kennedy (Delran, N.J./Delran), freshman Blair Huffman (Roanoke, Va./North Cross), and freshman Kelli Austin (Niles, Mich./Niles) led the way with two wins apiece. Kennedy placed first in the 200 yard IM (2:20.57) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:32.78). Huffman claimed the 200 yard butterfly (2:20:29) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:21.88), and Austin won the 200 yard freestyle (2:05.00) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:42.06). W&L's 200 medley relay team also swam its way to a victory with a time of 1:59.87.
On the men's side, the Generals (2-1) were paced by sophomore Rick Black (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) who won both the 100 yard freestyle (51.14) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:26.22). Freshman Pat Frankfort (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) won the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.82), junior Colin Hayes (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) claimed the 200 yard IM (2:09.87), and freshman Zach Fake (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) won the 200 yard freestyle (1:55.17). The W&L men also won the 200 medley relay, recording a time of 1:43.97.
Both W&L squads will return to action when they host Gettysburg College on Sunday, November 14, in the Cy Twombly Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
