Men's Swimming Beats Cross-town Rivals, 136-104

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee's men's swimming team (4-3) took first place in 10 of 12 events in defeating VMI, 136-104 at Cy Twombly Pool on Wedenesday evening.

Sophomore Colin Hayes led the way for the Generals, taking first place in three events. Hayes reigned supreme in the 100 and 200 butterfly events, with respective times of 54.37 and 2:13.89. He also won the 200 freestyle event with a time of 1:50.00.

Two Generals won two events a piece. Freshman Rick Black finished first in the 100 and 500 freestyle events with respective times of 51.31 and 5:27.32. Sophomore Mike Miraglia took first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events with respective times of 1:04.60 and 2:23.90 .

Junior All-America candidate Jared Fribush took first place in the 50 freestyle event with a time of 22.51, while sophomore Rob Little finished first in the 400 individual medley event wit a time of 4:38.97.

The Generals will return to action on Jan. 15, when they host Buffalo State at Cy Twombly Pool. That match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
