
The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2009 College Division All-State Football team on Thursday as voted on by the membership. Washington and Lee had six players honored on the first or second teams.

Washington and Lee seniors Charlie Craigle (Greenville, N.C./Rose) and Matt Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) were both named to the D3Football.com All-South Region team, which was announced on Friday morning.

Washington and Lee senior defensive end Matt Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) has been named a finalist for the 2009 Dudley Award, which is presented to the top collegiate football players in Virginia for the University and College Divisions.

Washington and Lee senior defensive back Donavon Sawyer (Little Rock, Ark./Robinson) has been selected to participate in the inaugural Division III Football Senior Classic, joining teammates Charlie Craigle (Greenville, N.C./Rose) and Matt Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) on the South roster.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced its 2009 all-conference football teams on Tuesday afternoon and Washington and Lee had eight players honored on the first, second and honorable mention squads. Additionally, junior offensive lineman Greg Kurkis (Roswell, Ga./Westminster) was named the Co-ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner along with Hampden-Sydney senior linebacker Josh Miller.
