American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced

Washington and Lee seniors Becca Taylor (Hamilton,

McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and Stacy Doornbos (Roswell,
Ga./Lassiter) headed the list of honorees at the annual Washington

Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its all-conference
baseball team on Wednesday and Washington and Lee had several
players honored, including senior centerfielder Terrence McKelvey

Player of the Year and the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the

lacrosse team on Tuesday and Washington and Lee had several players

Washington and Lee University has announced the 22nd class to
be inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame. The class includes
Gibby McSpadden '56, Glenn Kirschner '84, Rebekah Prince '96 and
Nathan Hottle '97. The group will be recognized at the Athletic
Hall of Fame dinner on Fri., Sept. 11 and at the Generals' football
game against Sewanee on Sat., Sept. 12.

David Hanna Resigns as Assistant Football Coach at
W&L

David Hanna has resigned his position as assistant football
coach and assistant professor of physical education at Washington
and Lee University and has accepted an offer to become the
offensive intern coach at the University of Notre Dame.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its
men’s basketball postseason awards on Thursday and a pair of
Generals were honored as senior forward Ben Heller (Houston,
Texas/Lamar) was chosen as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete and
junior forward Zac White (Baltimore, Md./Park School) was an
honorable mention All-ODAC selection.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its
all-conference women's basketball team at the conference tournament
banquet held on Wednesday evening at the Salem Civic Center.
Washington and Lee first-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro,
N.C./Ragsdale) was named the Rookie of the Year, while first-year
forward Rebecca Bolton (Pittsdale, N.C./Chatham Central) was tabbed
to the honorable mention squad. Ingram also collected Second Team
All-ODAC laurels.

Neil Cunningham Promoted to Assistant Athletic

Cunningham has been promoted to assistant athletic director
effective immediately. Cunningham will remain the school's women's

W&L Football Great Gil Bocetti Passes

Lexington, VA -- December 2, 2008 • Gilbert
Bocetti, Jr., former Washington and Lee quarterback and member of
the W&L Athletic Hall of Fame, passed away on November 24 at
the North Carolina State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville,
N.C. He was 78 years old.

Christine Bender (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), Allison Gockley

Washington and Lee swimmer Alex Sweet competed at the United States
Olympic Trials on Friday morning and finished tied for 64th overall
out of 113 competitors in the 50 freestyle event.
