Washington and Lee Swimming Teams Honored for Work in the Classroom
Lexington, VA -- July 7, 2009 • The Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its Spring 2009 list of Scholar-Athlete Teams and the Washington and Lee men's and women's teams were among those honored. Additionally, the CSCAA announced its list of Scholar All-Americans and W&L had several individuals recognized.

W&L's Taylor and Webb Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans
Lexington, VA -- June 29, 2009 • Washington and Lee seniors Becca Taylor (Hamilton, Ohio/Edgewood) and Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) have been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both Taylor and Webb were tabbed to the third team.

W&L's McKelvey Named to VaSID All-State Team
Lexington, VA -- June 29, 2009 • The Virginia Sports Information Director's Association (VaSID) announced its 2009 All-State baseball team recently and Washington and Lee senior centerfielder Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) was honored for the second-straight year.

W&L's Tabb Named CoSIDA Academic All-American
Lexington, VA -- June 11, 2009 • Washington and Lee women’s senior women’s tennis player Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-America At-Large squad as a third team selection.

Nathaniel James Named to GCAA All-Nicklaud Team
Lexington, VA -- June 10, 2008 • The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced that recent Washington and Lee graduate Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller) is among 20 honorees for the inaugural All-Nicklaus Team, which recognizes Division I, II, III and NAIA golfers for their outstanding play during the 2007-08 collegiate season.

Five Generals Named to All-State Men's Lacrosse Team

McKelvey, Doornbos Highlight Award Winners at W&L
Lexington, VA -- May 26, 2009 • Seniors Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter) headed the list of honorees at the annual Washington and Lee University Athletic Awards Ceremony on May 26 at W&L’s Lee Chapel. McKelvey was named the Pres Brown Outstanding Senior Male Athlete, while Doornbos was the female recipient of the award.

W&L Sweeps Old Dominion Athletic Conference Major Awards

W&L Baseball Grabs ODAC Postseason Honors
Lexington, VA -- May 6, 2009 • The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its all-conference baseball team on Wednesday and Washington and Lee had several players honored, including senior centerfielder Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip), who collected the league’s Player of the Year and the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades. Also, Head Coach Jeff Stickley was named Coach of the Year.

Lexington, VA -- May 5, 2009 • The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its all-conference men's lacrosse team on Tuesday and Washington and Lee had several players honored, including senior midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex), who was named the Player of the Year and ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Lexington, VA -- April 29, 2009 • Washington and Lee senior swimmer Paul Crook (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) and senior cross country and track & field athlete Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) have been awarded National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarships. The awards are a $7,500 scholarship for academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.

W&L Announces 2009 Athletic Hall of Fame Class
Lexington, VA -- April 17, 2009 • Washington and Lee University has announced the 22nd class to be inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame. The class includes Gibby McSpadden '56, Glenn Kirschner '84, Rebekah Prince '96 and Nathan Hottle '97. The group will be recognized at the Athletic Hall of Fame dinner on Fri., Sept. 11 and at the Generals' football game against Sewanee on Sat., Sept. 12.

Numerous W&L Students Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards
Lexington, VA -- April 16, 2009 • Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 172 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

W&L Names Brendan O'Brien Assistant Football Coach

David Hanna Resigns as Assistant Football Coach at W&L
Lexington, VA -- March 2, 2009 • David Hanna has resigned his position as assistant football coach and assistant professor of physical education at Washington and Lee University and has accepted an offer to become the offensive intern coach at the University of Notre Dame.

Two W&L Men's Basketball Players Honored by the ODAC
Lexington, VA -- February 26, 2009 • The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its men’s basketball postseason awards on Thursday and a pair of Generals were honored as senior forward Ben Heller (Houston, Texas/Lamar) was chosen as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete and junior forward Zac White (Baltimore, Md./Park School) was an honorable mention All-ODAC selection.

ODAC Announces All-Conference Women's Basketball Teams
Lexington, VA -- February 25, 2009 • The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its all-conference women's basketball team at the conference tournament banquet held on Wednesday evening at the Salem Civic Center. Washington and Lee first-year guard Meghan Ingram (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) was named the Rookie of the Year, while first-year forward Rebecca Bolton (Pittsdale, N.C./Chatham Central) was tabbed to the honorable mention squad. Ingram also collected Second Team All-ODAC laurels.

W&L Women's Track & Field Receives National Ranking
Lexington, VA -- February 5, 2009 • The Washington and Lee women's indoor track & field team was picked 15th in the Feb. 4 edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Poll.
