W&L's DEAN AWARDED NCAA POSTGRADUATE
SCHOLARSHIP
INDIANAPOLIS. Ind. -- Peter Dean (Vienna, Va./James
Madison), a recent graduate of Washington and Lee University, has
been awarded a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Postgraduate Scholarship. The award is a $7,500 scholarship for
academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or
part-time graduate student.

ALL-AMERICANS
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Washington and Lee senior swimmer Eric
Ritter (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) and junior tennis player
Lindsay Hagerman (Wichita Falls, Texas/Highland Park) have been
named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Men's and
Women's At-Large teams which were announced on Thursday afternoon.
Both were third team selections in voting conducted by the College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

ASHLAND, Va. -- Washington and Lee claimed four
selections to the Virginia Sports Information Director's (VaSID)

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Washington and Lee women's
lacrosse team (15-3), winners of the Old Dominion Athletic
Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament,
will face Gettysburg College (17-2) in the second round of the
tournament in a regional hosted by Salisbury University on Saturday

announced the 17th class to be inducted into its Athletic Hall of
Fame. Two members, Howard Dobbins '41, '42L and Frank Brooks '46
will be inducted at the University's Five-Star General Dinner on
Fri., Oct. 1, while four others, Jack Emmer, David Redmond '66,
'69L, Chris Cavalline '83 and Nancy Mitchell Hatcher '92, will be

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Following it's 2-1 victory over
seventh-ranked Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Championship match,
the Washington and Lee women's soccer team has been ranked No. 6 in
the November 10 edition of the National Soccer Coaches Association
of America (NSCAA) Division III poll.
MEN'S SOCCER ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
ANNOUNCED
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior defender Peter Miller (Towson,
Md./Baltimore Lutheran), a member of the Washington and Lee men's
soccer team, has been named to the Second Team CoSIDA Academic
All-District squad, which was announced Saturday evening.

SCHOLARSHIP
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Erika Proko (Charlotte,
N.C./Providence Day), a 2003 Washington and Lee graduate and member
of the Generals' women's tennis team, has been awarded a National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarship.
The award is a $6,900 scholarship for academic work beyond the
baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate
student.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director
Mike Walsh has announced that Jeff Lafave, the University's head
men's basketball coach for the past four years, has resigned
effective July 11 to accept an assistant coaching position at
