Snyder Earns 500th Win at W&L; Generals Top Falcons, 3-0

ASHLAND, Va. — With a 3-0 win by the Washington and Lee volleyball team over Messiah in a neutral-site match at Randolph-Macon on Saturday, Head Coach Bryan Snyder earned his 500th victory at the helm of the program.

The Generals (13-8) made quick work of the Falcons (12-13), winning in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.

Junior outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) had 10 kills on 20 attempts with no errors for a .500 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) totaled 13 digs with two aces, and junior setter Anna Soroka (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) had 27 assists and two aces. Senior outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) added eight kills.

Snyder, a 1995 graduate of W&L, now has a record of 500-157 (.761) in his 19 seasons as the head coach of Washington and Lee. He is the first coach in school history to register 500 wins, while coaching one team at W&L. Snyder also spent two seasons as the head coach of St. Mary's (Md.) before coming to back to coach his alma mater. In his 21 seasons as a head volleyball coach, he has a record of 541-182 (.748).

Further statistics were not immediately available after the match. The Generals play sixth-ranked Juniata later on Saturday at 2:00 pm at R-MC.
