FERRUM, Va. — Sophomore middle blocker Courtney Berry (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) totaled nine kills on just 12 attempts (.750 hitting percentage) to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 victory at Ferrum on Saturday.
The Generals (6-8, 3-1 ODAC) hit .300 as a team with 38 kills and 14 errors on 80 attempts. Conversely, the Panthers (7-7, 0-3 ODAC) had just 26 kills on 72 attempts with 16 errors for a .139 hitting percentage, as the Blue and White swept the match, 25-16, 25-19, 25-16.
Along with her nine kills, Berry added two blocks and three assists. Junior outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) recorded eight kills on 14 attempts with three errors for a .357 hitting percentage. She also had three blocks.
Senior outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) tallied seven kills and a match-high nine digs to go with three blocks. Junior setter Anna Soroka (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) contributed 30 assists and seven digs. Junior outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) totaled four service aces.
Junior middle blocker Layura Henley led the Panthers with seven kills on nine attempts for a .778 hitting percentage. First-year setter Arielle Tritt had six digs and five assists.
The Generals played Bridgewater later on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at Ferrum.
