Seven Generals Garner IWLCA Honor Roll Accolades

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association announced its 2019 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad awards and Honor Roll honorees on Wednesday, and Washington and Lee had seven individuals recognized and also earned the team award.

Recent graduates Ellie Aburn (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Emily Carden (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield), Cordelia Peters (Larkspur, Calif./Hotchkiss), Abigail Summerville (Arlington, Va./National Cathedral School) and Haley Tucker (Manakin-Sabot, Va./St. Catherine's) and rising seniors Elliot Gilbert (Bedford, N.Y./Deerfield Academy) and Giddings Harrison (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's and St. Agnes) were the W&L athletes that each garnered a spot on the IWLCA Honor Roll. They were among 630 student-athletes from 166 institutions to receive the accolade at the Division III level. 

To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

A total of 303 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA garnered IWLCA Honor Squad recognition. To qualify, a team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

Washington and Lee finished the 2019 season 18-3 overall, falling to Wesleyan (Conn.) in the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinals on May 18. W&L ended the year ranked eighth in the IWLCA National Poll and spent several weeks as the top-ranked team in Division III.
