  • Perszyk and Thetford Highlight 2017-18 Award Winners at W&L

    The Washington and Lee Department of Athletics held its annual Athletics Awards Ceremony at Lee Chapel on Tuesday evening. The event, made possible by the generosity of the Brookby Family, honors student-athletes and administrators who have made the 2017-18 school year a tremendous success.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 257 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.
  • W&L Women's Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Accolades

    The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its All-Academic Teams and individual honorees on Friday, and the Washington and Lee women’s cross country squad earned the team award and had five runners recognized.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its fall standings for the ODAC Commissioner’s Cups and Washington and Lee carries a commanding lead for the men’s, women’s and overall cups.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Term Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 253 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 242 set last fall.

    The Washington and Lee women’s cross country team finished fifth out of 34 teams at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional on Saturday hosted by Christopher Newport.

    Junior Kirsten McMichael (Eighty Four, Pa./Ringgold) finished 20th out of 282 runners to lead the Washington and Lee women’s cross country team to a sixth-place finish out of 31 teams at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.

    Washington and Lee women’s cross country sophomore Julia Moody (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) finished 10th out of 181 runners to lead the Generals to a sixth-place finish out of 23 teams in the 4k race at the 2017 Dickinson Long and Short Invitational on Saturday.

    Due to unforeseen transportation issues, the Washington and Lee men's and women's cross country teams will now compete at the Hokie Invite hosted by Virginia Tech on Friday instead of the originally scheduled Stevenson Mustang Stampede.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2017 women’s cross country preseason coaches’ poll on Wednesday, and two-time defending league champion Washington and Lee took first out of 12 teams. The Generals received 10 first-place votes and 120 total points.
