W&L Women's Cross Country Finishes 4th at Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. -- The Washington and Lee women's cross country team, on the strength of four Top 35 individual finishes, placed fourth out of 16 teams on Saturday afternoon at the Dan Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University.

The Generals were led by junior Lauren Schultz (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton), who placed fifth out of  144 runners with a time of 22:17.00.

Sophomores Annelise Madison (Roca, Neb./Norris) and Brandie Huffman (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) placed 15th and 16th with time of 22:57.00 and 23:04.00, respectively.

Junior Molly Ortiz (Ketchikan, Alaska/Ketchikan) posted a time of 24:01.00 two earn a 35th-place finish and sophomore Katie Driest (Davison, N.C./North Mecklenburg) rounded out the Generals' scoring runners with a finish in 55th place in 24:51.00.

W&L returns to action on October 14, when it takes part in the Royal XC Challenge beginning at 5:00 pm.
